Atlanta Middle School Boasts 23 Students First at UIL Academic Meet

Approximately 200 Atlanta Middle School students recently participated in the UIL Academic Meet held over a two day period on November 8th and 10th in Paris Texas.  Events included art memory, music memory, ready writing, listening, number sense, social studies, chess puzzle, oral reading, calculator, maps, charts and graphs, editorial writing, impromptu speaking, science, modern oratory, spelling, mathematics and dictionary skills.

Atlanta Middle School had 23 students who placed first place in their event, 22 students earned second place prizes and 17 AMS students attained third place during the competition.

Final points were Paris-1145; Atlanta—1113; L-E—374; North Lamar—365; Pittsburg—202.

UIL coordinator for AMS is Mindy Rutland.  UIL coaches include Stephanie Easley, Connie Adams, Paula Stone, Julie Whatley, Stacy Nash, Paula Norwood, Taylor Windham, Lindsey Boston, David Harris, Rachel Hogue, Tanner Shirley, Jill Howard and Kim Dodson.
