National Junior Honor Society

NJHS

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is more than an honor roll. It is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a student. Membership is based on five criteria (pillars): citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship, and character. Each year, students are selected by the Faculty Council to be inducted into the NJHS.

Requirements for eligibility include the following:

  •  Currently enrolled in 8th grade
  • Attend Atlanta Middle school for at least one semester
  • A cumulative 95% average for all grading cycles in core content courses (8th grade year). 10 points will be added for advance placement courses.
  • Maintain good character traits
  • No disciplinary incidents or bus referrals resulting in ISS, suspension, or DAEP (8th grade year)
  • No more than 7 days of unexcused absences (8th grade year)

During the spring semester, candidates will be notified regarding academic eligibility.  Students will fill out and turn in necessary forms.  There is not a set number of members chosen; however, eligibility does not guarantee selection into NJHS.  A formal induction ceremony will be held in the spring to recognize all the newly selected members.

If you have any questions about NJHS or the process of being considered for induction, please do not hesitate to contact Atlanta Middle School at (903) 796-7928.
